STEM on Wheels 2016

A Girl Scout Gold Award Project

October 2016

Stem on Wheels is a Girl Scout Gold Award Project set on teaching young girls about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math by helping them build their own remote control car out of popsicle sticks and other household materials.

What "Stem on Wheels" Is All About

37

78

1?

The percentage of females taking precalculus/
analysis  (37%) was higher than that of males (34%),
More females than males took advanced biology (50% versus 39%)
Percentage of females taking algebra II (78% compared to 74%)

Males were 6 times more likely to have taken engineering (6% versus 1%).

Science - Technology - Engineering - Math

Girls are taking many high level Mathematics and Science courses at similar rates as their male peers, with the exception of Physics and Engineering, and are performing well overall.  (NSF, Science & Engineering Indicators, 2012).

I'm Hoping that with my project we can turn that 1% in to 20% maybe even 50%!!!
